I was writiing a paper for the Chilean Legislative Commision for the development of the National System for Innovation Based Competitiveness. We were struggling to make the distinction between sources of innovation (science and generative theories; engineering and technology; emerging cultural turns) and innovation itself. I come across this Dean Kamen's interesting TEDtalk about engineering addressign human concerns and resignations...and opening the possibilities to load a new product with tons of services.

InnoCentive is a very interesting innitiative. A kind of crowdsourcing to deal with challenging situations along innovation procesess. I havent seen the "Open" part to the story yet. It seems to work mostly with a private IP modality.

I had the chance to be one of the speakers on "Commons Sense: A new Sustainable and Digital Culture". It was a wonderful opportunity to open a conversation on the emerging digital/networked commons and their role in producing innovation in social practices. I recommend you to visit Charlotte Hess site on The Commons. She has done an extensive work in mapping the commons that will give you a good sense of the diversity, possibilities and relevant voices on the topic.
Here a fantastic conference of Yochai Benkler on his book "The Wealth of Networks'. It was sent to me by David Sullivan, a digital guy with molecular dreams.
I started this wiki to sharpen some frameworks that are very useful when you are dealing with improving service processes. It will grow along 2008, after that I don't know. Cashman, a social software programmer, and I started an initiative named "chalkstripe" (old-fashioned-unpredictable-future). We will be developing internet-enabled services.
